Sandusky to kick off 28th Annual Country Christmas Weekend with Friday tree lighting, Saturday parade

The city of Sandusky invites you to kick off a weekend of holiday cheer with their 28th Annual Country Christmas Weekend Tree Lighting & Luminary Walk on Friday, December 1.

The Luminary Walk begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Sanilac Courthouse Gazebo, with the tree lighting taking place on the lawn at 7:00 p.m.

Every year, luminary bags light up the Sanilac Courthouse lawn in remembrance of those who have passed. For one dollar, you can write the name of a loved one or leave your own memorial message. Volunteers will fill the bags with sand and light candles in preparation for the walk. Bags are available at Sandusky City Hall at 26 West Speaker Street in Sandusky. All donations raised will go towards the Sandusky Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the December 1st festivities, Sandusky will be hosting a bevy of activities for friends and family to enjoy on Saturday, December 2, including the Sandusky High School band’s craft and vendor show at the Sandusky Elementary School from 10 a.m. to 3:00 pm, kids crafts at various locations around town from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and several spots to get hot cocoa and keep warm before the Lighted Implement Parade gets underway at 7:00 p.m.
