The Port Sanilac Volunteer Fire Department reports that all cattle inside a burning barn this morning were saved.

Shortly after 7:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 30, the Sanilac East Fire Authority was dispatched to a barn fire with animals still reported inside.

Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters found a 40×50 barn fully engulfed in flames. Though initially reported that the animals were still in the barn, the homeowner was able to safely get all cattle out of the burning structure before crews arrived.

Assisted by the Deckerville and Caronsville fire departments, the Sanilac East Fire Authority remained on scene for about two hours with 12,000 gallons of water used to extinguish the blaze.
