The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office reports that after an investigation at St. Clair Middle School this morning, a threat was found not to be credible.
County deputies, along with the Michigan State Police, were called to the middle school Thursday, November 30, due to reports of a threat that someone planned to shoot up the school, with all threats and related communication happening via Snapchat. The supposed threat stemmed from an ongoing issue between a student and another juvenile not enrolled at the middle school.
“The two individuals were investigated, parents were spoken to, and their homes were searched. It was concluded that the threat was in no way credible,” the sheriff’s office concluded via press release this afternoon.
The Sheriff’s Office urges parents and caregivers to speak to their children about appropriate use of the internet and social media, and if they see something suspicious or potentially threatening, to speak up.
