For the tenth consecutive year, the Huron County Sheriff department is helping make Christmas a little brighter for those who have been affected by tragedy or loss, through their annual partnership with the Toys for Tots program.

Beginning on Thursday, deputies have been handing out $100 cash gifts or food gift certificates to area residents in need. This year, the sheriff’s department has raised a total of $12,100 for the program.
Sheriff Hanson says most of that money has already been designated to a family, with delivery of the donations likely to take place through New Year’s Day. Over the past 10 years, the Huron County Sheriff Department has raised over $303,000 in cash and toys for Huron County children and families in need.
