Three men were arrested early last Friday morning following a brief chase by Tuscola County Sheriff deputies.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 4:00 a.m. on December 15 after a caller reported suspicious men lurking around an outbuilding of an Elmwood Township property. The property contained a cannabis grow operation, with arriving deputies observing a white van running in the property’s driveway.
While it isn’t clear if the trio had yet attempted to break in, they did attempt to escape upon the deputies’ arrival, driving around the patrol cars and fleeing onto eastbound Dickerson Road, towards M-81. An assisting Caro Police Officer deployed spike strips on M-81 near Colwood Road, with three of the fleeing vehicle’s four tires disabled from the strips.
Stopping on southbound Colwood Road, the three men were taken into custody for fleeing and eluding, breaking and entering and possession of burglary tools. The suspects were identified as being from Warren, Michigan.
The investigation is ongoing.
