With no plea agreement reached and arraignment proceedings waived, a two-day trial was scheduled for Andrew Jewell, the man accused of grabbing a child at a Sandusky thrift store.
With his arraignment scheduled this morning at 9:00 a.m. in Sanilac County Circuit Court, Jewell, who is charged with attempted unlawful imprisonment, kidnapping/child enticement and assault/battery, instead chose to waive the proceedings, with his court-appointed lawyer, Eric Scott, and assistant prosecutor Robert Heyboer using the time as a pretrial hearing instead.
With no plea agreement reached, Attorney Scott requested the matter be set for trial. Circuit Court Judge Timothy Wrathell scheduled the two-day trial to begin on May 9, 2024 at 9:30 a.m., with a final pretrial conference on April 24, and a status conference scheduled for February 28.
