The Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office is celebrating the acquisition of a new marine boat Thursday.
The $147,000 purchase was made possible through the use of funds from the American Rescue Plan Act, with Tuscola County Commissioner Bill Lutz and the Board of Commissioners playing a pivotal role in facilitating the purchase of the HewesCraft 22’ Ocean Pro model.
The new purchase is a crucial addition for search, rescue, and recovery operations in the expansive waters of Saginaw Bay and some of the larger inland lakes. Acquiring this new craft means replacing an aging boat bought in 1999 while enhancing the Sheriff’s Office’s capabilities to ensure the safety and security of the community.
