A St. Clair County court officer was killed last Thursday while serving an eviction notice in Clay Township.
Clay Township Police had not heard from the man for several hours when they began their search at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, retracing his steps to a home he was scheduled to serve an eviction notice on. Upon arrival at the home in the 6100 block of Genaw Road, police found the officer dead, having been shot. Responding officers eventually took a resident at the address into custody, following a brief standoff with the individual.
The Clay Township Police are being assisted by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the St. Clair County Prosecutor’s Office for further investigation.
