Alcohol not a factor in Friday afternoon crash in Fremont Township

accident

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in a Friday afternoon crash, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call shortly after 4:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, reporting a single vehicle personal injury crash on East Galbraith Line Road near Fargo Road in Fremont Township.  Deputies along with the Croswell Fire Department and Croswell EMS were dispatched to the scene.

Investigation determined that a 73-year-old Burtchville man had been driving his 2016 Jeep east on East Galbraith Line Road when he fell asleep and crossed the centerline, entering the east ditch and striking an embankment before the vehicle overturned onto its roof. Trapped inside his vehicle, the driver had to be assisted to safety by the Croswell Fire Department. He was then transported to Port Huron McLaren Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

While the accident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s department, investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
