Port Huron Police say that no explosives were found in a suspicious package located yesterday, January 11, in the 2600 block of Peavey Street.
On Thursday afternoon, department officers were dispatched to the area after reports of an individual experiencing a mental health crisis in front of a home. Upon making contact with the officers, the individual claimed that he had placed explosives inside of a package and dropped it in the area.
Once officers found the package, a perimeter was established around the item, and nearby residents were evacuated. With the help of the Michigan Police Bomb Squad, local police were able to clear both the package and the home associated with the incident, finding no explosives in either location.
Local police are finishing up their investigation, with the individual transported for treatment.
