After almost two years of work and consulting, the Sanilac County Planning Commission approved the 2024 county master plan following a Tuesday night public hearing.

The hearing on January 16 follows a 63-day review period for the public, with citizens and local government officials invited to suggest edits to the plans or question its validity. The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved the review period back in November of last year, with the new plan a culmination of work done since April 2022.

During Tuesday’s meeting, five of the 12 county residents in attendance took to the podium to share their thoughts on the plan. With public comment closed and a few minor edits discussed, the Planning Commission unanimously approved the 2024 master plan.

With a resolution of the adoption read and signed, the next step is for the county commissioners to approve and adopt it at their next meeting on Tuesday, February 6.
