Thanks to a donation to a national non-profit, Tuscola County Sheriff’s K9 Belo recently received a bullet and stab protective vest.

The drug detection dog’s new vest was provided by the non-profit organization, Vested Interest in K9s, Inc, with the vest sponsored by Leah A. Beale of Oklahoma City, OK. Belo’s new vest is just one of over 5,435 provided nationwide by the charity, with the K9 body armor vests custom fitted, and certified by the National Institute of Justice. Each vest has a value of $1800, weighs an average of 4-5 lb., and comes with a five-year warranty.

K9 Belo joined the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office in September of last year, and the one-year-old German Shepherd has been working with Deputy Spencer Coleman.
