A Kinde woman is awaiting arraignment after Huron County Sheriff’s officers found several stashes of methamphetamine she kept in her apartment, a backpack and her car.

Huron County Sheriff Deputies were investigating a vehicle found in a ditch along M-53 in Meade Township on Tuesday, January 23, when they reached out to the car’s owner and driver at a home in Grant Township. While contacting the 32-year-old Kinde woman, officers found that she had a felony warrant from Otsego County for dangerous drugs, leading to an arrest.

The next day, the Huron County Drug Task Force was contacted in regards to a suspicious backpack the woman had left behind at the Grant Township residence. A search of that backpack found methamphetamine and allowed for officers to obtain a search warrant for her apartment in Kinde, which turned up more methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and several cell phones. A search warrant for the car was obtained, with methamphetamine also found in the impounded car.

Upon her release from Otsego County Jail, the woman returned to Huron County and was promptly arrested at her Kinde apartment for felony possession of methamphetamine.

Though official arraignment has not happened yet, Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson noted that the woman needs $40,000 in cash to be released from the county jail, and that further charges against her may be filed next week. Other agencies assisting Drug Task Force members throughout the investigation included the Kinde Police Department and Bad Axe City Police Officers.
