Imlay City woman killed after car rolls over on St. Clair County’s I-69 Tuesday morning

accident

Despite the best efforts by Good Samaritans, a woman has died following a rollover accident on westbound I-69 this morning, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
St. Clair County Central Dispatch received a call around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 6, about a car rolling over on I-69 at the exit ramp of Wales Center Road. When deputies arrived, they found a dark blue Ford Fusion had rolled over near the median, as well as several passersby who had stopped to help before the emergency responders arrived.
While one person attempted CPR on the assumed driver, a woman, two others had rescued a child from the rolled vehicle. That child, as well as another found walking around the area after the accident, was transported to St. John Moross Hospital, where they are in stable condition. The woman, unfortunately, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Tri-Hospital EMS.
Further investigation found that the driver, an 18-year-old Imlay City woman, was ejected during the crash, as was her two-year-old passenger, who had not been properly restrained in their seat. The other child passenger, a six-month-old, remained in their car seat throughout the ordeal.
I-69 was shut down by St. Clair County’s Accident Investigation Team before it was reopened around 8:15 a.m. Though the crash remains under investigation, no further information is being released pending family notification.
