Despite successfully tracking down a stolen truck in Lapeer, Huron County law enforcement hopes to still track down the pair believed responsible.

Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson reported Friday, February 16, that the truck, a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, was found. The vehicle was reported missing on the morning of Friday, February 2, not long after Huron County Sheriff Sgt Brandon Kadar responded to reports of a vehicle left in a Dwight Township ditch around 7:30 a.m. that day. The car, found near the Kinde and Tomlinson Road intersection, was a 2000 Saturn from Birchfield, Michigan.

In the snow leading away from the abandoned vehicle, Sgt. Kadar spotted two sets of footprints in the snow and followed them north along Tomlinson Road for about a mile before they ended at a home in the area. Officers learned that the homeowner’s truck had gone missing, with witnesses’ testimony determining that the Chevrolet pickup had been stolen only minutes before the deputies arrived at the scene.

Witnesses described the thieves as a man wearing glasses and a blue jean jacket and a woman wearing a green winter jacket with a fur collar.  Anyone with information is asked to call Huron Central Dispatch at 989-269-6421 or the sheriff’s office at 989-269-6500.
