With the beginning of spring next month, the Croswell City Council spent this past Tuesday’s meeting preparing for the upcoming season.
The city’s tractor is a heavily used piece of equipment, resulting in some repairs being looked over. The initial quote for fixing several mechanical issues was a little under $5,000. More work was completed, however, with the final quote setting at $7,000 for the initial work. Council members approved the cost of repairs, along with an additional $9,500 to tighten any remaining leaks. With the total cost leveling out at $16,500, council members opted to pay for the remaining repairs as purchasing a new tractor could cost upwards of $170,000.
Council members were also pleased to announce that last week’s career day at Croswell-Lexington High School was an overwhelming success.
“I know from the feedback I’m getting that our DPS crew. . . along with our electricians,” Mayor Rob Butler said, “[had] great demonstrations, and the kids loved the electrical guys. They had the longest line.”
Last Wednesday’s career day was the first held in over four years due to COVID-19 restrictions.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for March 4, 2024, at 7:30 p.m.
