As part of the conclusion of an ongoing investigation this week, the St. Clair County Drug Task Force seized crack cocaine and arrested an area man.
31-year-old Alex Hammond, the investigation’s target, was taken into custody on Tuesday, February 20, with DTF agents searching his home in the 1100 block of Oak Street in Port Huron. The search turned up a quantity of methamphetamine, crack cocaine and analogue pills, as well as packaging material, drug paraphernalia and a digital scale.
The search also revealed the home was in deplorable conditions and also housed three small children who were not receiving proper care.
Hammond was charged with child neglect, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of analogues, possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a drug house. He was arraigned Friday on these charges, with bond set at $25,000/10%.
