Two dead following head-on crash on M-53 Thursday evening

Part of Lapeer County’s M-53 was closed for several hours yesterday following a head-on collision that killed two.
Police report that the accident occurred just before 7:00 p.m. February 22, when a northbound Dodge Ram pickup, being driven by a 67-year-old Almont man, crossed the road’s center line and struck a Chevrolet Tahoe. The Tahoe was being driven by a 91-year-old man from Rochester, with the collision killing both men instantly.
Neither vehicle had additional passengers at the time of the crash.
Assisting the Almont Police Department at the scene included the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Department Reconstruction Team, Michigan State Police, Metamora Township and Dryden Police, Almont Fire, Lapeer County EMS and the Lapeer County Central Dispatch.
