With Cinco de Mayo 2024 falling on a Sunday, the Sanilac County Historical Society is taking advantage of the weekend timing and organizing a Mexican heritage concert fundraiser!
In addition to Mexican and Chicano vendors and food trucks being invited to the event, the headlining performance of Saginaw-based group Conjunto Champz is sure to surprise and dazzle attendees. The group has been performing for 10 years and tours nationally each year.
The Conjunto Champz musical genre goes by many names: Tex-Mex, Tejano, & Norteño. The music fuses Mexican and Spanish vocal traditions with Czech and German dance tunes and rhythms, particularly polka. Though Sanilac County’s demographics have roots tracing back to both Germany and Mexico, they aren’t typically seen as interfused as they will be at this concert.
Michigan Humanities’ funding will allow the museum to offer this event at a discounted rate to guests and at an even greater reduction in price to their members. The event will be available ONLINE to the public at a price of $10, and $5 for members. The day of the concert, ticket prices will be $15 – so get yours today!
