A Tuscola County deputy was minorly injured and an 18-year-old driver was arrested after a traffic incident yesterday evening.
Tuscola County Deputy Kyle Bischer was investigating a traffic crash on M-81 near Crane Road in Elkland Township, shortly after 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 10. Due to the weekend weather, the roads in that part of the county had spots where snow was drifting and blowing across the roadways.
While the deputy was sitting in his patrol car, a car traveling in the opposite direction lost control. The oncoming westbound vehicle, a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix, hit a patch of slush in the roadway, and the driver lost control. The vehicle crossed the center lane and into the opposite lane, striking the patrol vehicle on its driver’s side.
The deputy was treated for minor injuries at an area hospital, while the 18-year-old driver from Reese was arrested after an investigation by Michigan State Police. Formal charges and arraignment were expected yesterday.
