The 38-year-old man at the center of last Tuesday’s four-hour standoff in Lexington has been charged with 12 felonies following his Friday arraignment.

Carl Alton Hoffman was charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, four counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of malicious destruction of police property, three charges of using a pneumatic firearm to commit a felony, and one charge of assaulting, resisting or obstructing police, with the Sanilac County District Court assigning Hoffman a $750,000 cash/surety bond.

Hoffman is scheduled for arraignment tomorrow morning on a separate misdemeanor charge of disturbing the peace, with that charge’s incident reportedly occurring in late January of this year. The 38-year-old allegedly earned his felony charges after a four hour standoff beginning after 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, with authorities reporting that one Lexington Police Officer and a St. Clair County Sheriff’s Deputy were shot with Hoffman’s air gun, of which he had at least two.

Both the Lexington Police officer and the St. Clair County deputy shot during the incident received very minor injuries, with two patrol vehicles also being damaged from several rounds fired by the suspect. Following the standoff, a search warrant was executed and multiple weapons were removed from the home.

Hoffman will be back in court for this case’s probable cause conference next Tuesday, March 19 at 10:00 a.m.
