A Lapeer County man was arraigned in court last Friday for three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, according to the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit.
Jason Lee Presnell, age 46 of Lapeer, is also charged with three counts of using a computer to commit a crime. All six charges are felonies, with one count of aggravated possession carrying up to a four-year prison term and/or a fine of $10,000, while a count of using a computer to commit a crime, given the circumstances, carries up to 10 years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine.
Presnell was arrested following an investigation that saw digital evidence seized from his residence after it was learned he was viewing abusive and explicit material online. Presnell was arraigned in the 71-A District Court on Friday, March 15 and given a $1 million bond by Attorney Magistrate Michael Delling.
He will appear before Judge Laura Barnard this Friday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m. for a probable cause conference.
