Nominations are open again for ACH Seeds’ Homegrown Giving program, with $10,000 slated to go to another local community organization in the Thumb and Blue Water area.
Though the program is only two years old and only awards six organizations from across the nation each year, Homegrown Giving has provided several opportunities to local Thumb organizations.
For instance: Cass City Public Schools received the award last year, and the funds helped sustain a Class A CDL training program at the school, thus helping address the high demand for CDL drivers in the agriculture industry. The year before that, Ubly FFA received the program’s inaugural donation of $10,000, which went towards building costs for the school barn, which in turn would allow FFA students to raise some greenhouse crops and chickens, sheep and goats, to provide food to local families in need.
If there’s an area organization you’d like to nominate for the award, visit achseeds.com to submit nominations by May 31, 2024. Eligible organizations must operate within one of ACH Seed’s six growing regions, as detailed on their website. To qualify for the program, the organization must be a non-profit with organizational need, aligns with ACH Seeds’ values and services, and is committed to local agriculture.
Nominations will be evaluated based on alignment with ACH Seeds’ values, potential benefit to the local community and the award’s impact on the organization. Recipients of the $10,000 award in each region will be determined by a panel composed of local growers, industry representatives and ACH Seeds sales team members.
