A Tuscola County man was found to be in violation of his probation terms when deputies found hundreds of ammunition rounds and an unexploded ordnance Saturday evening.
Tuscola County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Robinson, his K9 partner and Deputy Kyle Broecker were sent to a home on South Kingston Road in Koylton Township shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, after receiving information that the homeowner, a known felon, had been seen moving multiple firearms from the home following a house fire.
Though the homeowner was gone upon the officers’ arrival, he did arrive back home shortly and admitted to moving firearms from the home. He consented to a search, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition were located in the home along with an unexploded ordnance.
The Michigan State Police’s bomb squad was contacted and they took possession of the explosive device. In addition to advising that the item was a 40 mm round with a threaded fuse tip, the state police seized it for examination.
The homeowner was released and information turned over to the county’s probation department.
