State Treasurer Rachael Eubanks announced Tuesday that over $2.8 million dollars would be awarded across 13 Michigan municipalities, including Sanilac County’s village of Peck, through the Financially Distressed Cities, Villages and Townships (FDCVT) Grant Program.
The grant is awarded so that the money can fund specific projects, services, or strategies, including infrastructure and public safety enhancements, that move a city, village, or township toward financial stability.
The village of Peck will receive $233,250  as part of the program, with $25,000 dedicated to upgrading local police equipment, $64,000 pledged to infrastructure replacement at the village hall and community center buildings and the remaining sum of almost $145,000 to go towards sidewalk repair.
Also receiving funding under the program is Huron County’s village of Owendale, who will receive $210,000 for water system improvements through replacing water meters, wells and pump houses.
