Worth Township crash claims life of Indiana man

One person is dead following a single vehicle crash in Sanilac County’s Worth Township. Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 911 call shortly before 4:45 Monday afternoon reporting an accident on Wildcat Road near Wellman Line Road. Investigation revealed that the vehicle driven by a 58-year-old male from Gary, Indiana, was heading southbound on Wildcat when he crossed the center line. The vehicle continued into the east ditch of the roadway, striking a fence and embankment before continuing into a yard in the 8800 block of Wildcat. Still moving, the vehicle then became airborne and struck a utility pole and a tree before coming to rest. The driver had to be freed from his vehicle by the Grant Township fire department before being transported to McLaren POrt Huron, where he passed away. The crash remains under investigation. Sanilac County sheriff deputies were assisted at the scene by the Croswell Fire Deparment, Croswell EMS, Tri-Hospital EMS, and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office.
