A St. Clair County man has been arraigned on three charges related to a November 2023 car crash near Mount Pleasant that killed one and injured two.
Kyle Edward Adams, age 37 of East China Township, was arraigned before Isabella County Magistrate Aaron Miller on Friday on three felony charges: one count of operating while intoxicated causing death, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison, and two counts of operating while intoxicated causing injury. The April 26th hearing also saw Adams’ bond be set at $250,000 cash/surety.
The charges arise from a three-vehicle crash on November 29, 2023, when Adams was driving on Isabella County’s Pickard Road when he crossed the centerline and collided with a vehicle driven by a 23-year-old woman from Lake. He then struck a second vehicle, causing it to overturn, with the second driver, a 71-year-old man from Remus, dying at the scene despite life-saving measures.
The 23-year-old woman and her passenger, a 24-year-old Grand Rapids woman, were only minorly injured while Adams himself was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. It’s believed that Adams was intoxicated at the time of the crash. He is due back in court for a probable cause conference on Thursday, May 9.
