A two vehicle crash in Bad Axe yesterday afternoon injured two and is believed to have been caused by alcohol, according to police.
Bad Axe Police responded shortly before 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30, to the crash on Nugent Road at Sand Beach Road. It was found that a 2017 Chevy Impala, being driven by a 65-year-old Harbor Beach man, had been stopped at the roads’ intersection when he was rear-ended by another northbound car. That car was a 2013 Ford Edge and was driven by a 75-year-old Bad Axe man.
The crash caused damage to both vehicles, as well as injuries to both the drivers and a 64-year-old Harbor Beach woman, who had been a passenger in the Chevy Impala. While the Bad Axe man required transport to McLaren ER for injuries sustained during the crash, the Harbor beach driver and passenger only required on-scene treatment before release.
Alcohol is believed to have been a factor in the crash, with the investigation ongoing. The Bad Axe Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Bad Axe Fire Department and Central Huron Ambulance.
