Michigan State Troopers with the Caro post report that a 17-year-old was at the center of a Saturday chase and search effort that featured three law enforcement agencies and tracking dogs.
The subject of the chase and search, a 17-year-old boy, was observed by troopers speeding and disregarding a stop sign in central Tuscola County on Saturday, May 4. When troopers attempted a traffic stop, the boy instead accelerated the vehicle and fled, only to wreck the car seconds later while turning.
Upon wrecking the vehicle, the teenager fled into the woods on foot, and within minutes, officers from the Caro Police Department, Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office and MSP Caro set up a perimeter in the heavily wooded area. Canine handlers quickly arrived on scene and initiated a track in the thick brush, with the suspect eventually flushed out of the woods.
When he gave himself up, he explained that he fled because he only has a level one graduated license permit. He was petitioned to juvenile court and turned over to his parents.
