The Croswell-Lexington School Board met Monday evening, approving the purchase of new playground equipment for both Frostick Elementary and the Middle School.
The decision to purchase the equipment from GameTime was previously discussed at April’s meeting but was tabled due to concerns raised by fellow board members. Of the schools part of the Croslex district, Meyer Elementary and Geiger Elementary have already received updated equipment as they both provide child care/latchkey programs. Play structures at Frostick in particular have not been replaced in over a decade, resulting in rust accumulation and safety concerns regarding students. Construction will take about two to three weeks with work being completed one school at a time. Current plans intend for the equipment to be installed before Fall 2024.
Food Services Director Ashley Peters also announced exciting news concerning plans for summer meal service. Croslex is the only district in Sanilac County that will be providing this option to community members. Peters and her team will be working hard to serve seven days of breakfast and lunch to anybody eighteen or under from surrounding schools and counties. Food will be available for pickup on Tuesdays in the High School parking lot.
“Whether [they] be from Sanilac County or St. Clair County . . . It will be in the same location as COVID with the same idea,” Peters explained. “We’re gonna do the milk, the fresh fruits, and veggies. I’m really excited for this.”
The next school board meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 24, at 7 p.m. in the Middle School Media Center.
