The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office reports that phone scammers are at it again, with this recent scammer claiming to be part of a tv company.
A county resident recently reported receiving a call from a man with a foreign accent, who identified himself as Mike Melvin, an employee for a company called Direct Deals. The man claimed that the company was working on behalf of Dish Network, and requested the county resident to send $180 to a Jacksonville, FL address so her service could be upgraded and new software added.
The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office reports that the company, address and the Mike Melvin identity are all fabricated and “bogus.”
