The Lexington Township Board of Trustees met this past Thursday, considering a “five-year recreation plan” to help with grant opportunities and a possible township ditching assessment.
Board members kicked off the meeting with news that the City of Croswell is expecting quotes from their engineer on paving a stretch from the village limits to Babcock Road. This section has seen some wear and tear, raising a few concerns from trustees.
“We all thought that that was the worst spot right now,” Supervisor Chad Partaka explained. In the meantime, Croswell has been searching for grant opportunities to help fund the planned paving. As of Thursday’s meeting, there were none available, with any potential grants requiring that the bike path be expanded.
“We’d have to add some other type of project if we’re gonna move forward . . . It doesn’t look like we can do anything until we have a Parks & Recreation Plan in place,” Partaka continued.
Discussion of a “five-year recreation plan” was ultimately tabled, with members planning to revisit it in July, as it would fall under next year’s budget.
A township-wide ditching assessment was also considered due to some issues experienced at Harrington Road and other surrounding areas. Board members will be drafting a possible road millage proposal as Lexington does not expect to receive any road millage(s) in 2025. Plans are anticipated to be announced by August. In preparation for 2024/25, the purchase of election/voting supplies was approved, as well. These items will be bought from Spectrum Printers, Inc. for a total of $1,125.
