A crash in Tuscola Township last Thursday killed a motorcyclist and seriously injured his passenger, according to the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were dispatched shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 23, to Frankenmuth and Van Cleve Roads for a personal injury crash.
Investigation found that a 33-year-old Vassar man had been driving a 2012 Honda motorcycle east on Frankenmuth Road, near Van Cleve Road, and was accompanied by a 29-year-old woman from Vassar when the incident occurred.
The motorcycle was navigating the road’s curve when it was struck by a 2019 GMC Terrain, which was traveling south on Frankenmuth Road and onto Van Cleve Road when the collision occurred. Both riders on the motorcycle were seriously injured, with the man passing due to his injuries.
The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Flint woman, sustained only minor injuries.
Both riders were wearing helmets during the crash, with seatbelts reportedly also used in the GMC Terrain. The investigation is ongoing.
