The Croswell City Council met this past Monday to hear updated street construction plans and safety concerns about quad bikes using city trails ahead of summer.
Council members previously announced during their May 20 meeting that Boddy Construction LLC, a general contractor based out of Port Huron, was expected to begin work in Croswell on Monday, June 3. They were going to start grinding Ward, Brown, and Davis Streets, but these plans have since been changed. Grinding is now tentatively scheduled for Friday, June 7. Ward and Brown Streets will not be crowned at the same time either.
In addition, council members heard concerns about all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) or quad bikes being used around Riverbend Park. Residents have been unable to access several trails in the nearby woods out of fear of potentially being hit by riders. These concerns were also made in terms of the alleyway along the city’s railroad tracks. City Administrator David Tait noted that he has been in contact with Parks and Recreation to help alleviate some of these issues. The use of extra signs or barriers to deter those from riding in such areas are being considered.
The next city council meeting is scheduled for June 17 at 7:30 p.m.
