Two injured in Monday morning Evergreen Township crash

Two people sustained only minor injuries in a crash Monday morning in Sanilac County’s Evergreen Township. Troopers from

the Michigan State Police Caro Post were dispatched to the corner of M-53 and Deckerville Road shortly after 9:00 a.m. Monday. Investigation revealed that a 2008 Volvo being driven by a 58-year old woman from Wheeler, Michigan, was heading west on Deckerville Road and stopped at the intersection of M-53. The Volvo then continued and turned right onto M-53, directly into the path of a northbound 2013 Chevy Silverado being driven by an 88-year old Reese man. The impact caused the Silverado to roll into the ditch at the north end of the intersection, pinning the Reese man inside. Both individuals involved in the crash sustained minor injuries and were transported to area hospitals for treatment. The 57-year old woman was issued a citation for failing to yield. Michigan State Police troopers were assisted at the scene by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, the Argyle Fire Department, Marlette EMS, MMR and Bartnik’s Towing.
