Croswell City Council provides updates to city emblem, begins Pioneer Days discussion

With summer just around the corner, the Croswell City Council kickstarted Monday’s meeting with updates on the city’s emblem and plans for uploading council meetings to the website.

Although the current logo was designed with simplicity in mind and has received positive feedback from residents, city council members motioned to pursue a redesign of Croswell’s emblem at last September’s meeting. This action was made in hopes of selecting a logo to better represent both the Swinging Bridge and the city’s colors. Despite receiving three options, council members tabled their selection of the logo for next Monday’s meeting, expressing a desire to possibly poll residents.

“If it’s in front of town hall, they [the residents] have to look at it, too,” Council member Donald Maury explained.

City Administrator David Tait also announced that he is working on posting all recordings of council meetings to the city’s website. As of Monday, five have been uploaded with more to be posted at a later date. In lieu of recent warm weather, public interest in hosting Pioneer Days next summer has grown. This city tradition was cancelled in 2022 with no festival having been held since 2019. Those previously involved in Pioneer Days or interested in volunteering are encouraged to attend an exploratory committee meeting on July 1 at 6 p.m.

The city council will be holding a town hall meeting next Monday, June 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
