Due to unexpected delays, the Michigan Department of Transportation had to postpone the planned closure of Sandusky’s M-46/M-19 intersection to tomorrow, Wednesday, June 19.
The closure was originally expected to begin on Saturday, June 15, with the state agency not specific in their announcement as to what caused the delay. The closure, which is in coordination with the city’s watermain project, will see traffic detoured from M-19 via Miller Road to Campbell Road, M-46, Jackson Street, Argyle Street, and Dawson Street to M-46.
Both directions of M-46 will remain closed between M-19 and Jackson Street until late July. Traffic will also be detoured via N. Elk Street to Argyle Street and Jackson Street back to M-46. M-46 will also remain closed from Maple Valley Street/Dawson Street to M-19 until late October.
Traffic will be detoured via N. Elk Street, Argyle Street, and Dawson Street back to M-46. The entire project is expected to be finished by November 2025.
