Friday evening accident in Elk Township injures three

accident-2

A Friday evening two-vehicle accident in Elk Township injured three people, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders, including the sheriff’s office, Elk Township Fire Department and Sanilac EMS, were dispatched shortly after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 21, responding to the accident on S. Sandusky Road near Bennett Road in Elk Township.
Initial investigation on scene determined that a 50-year-old Bruce Township woman had been northbound in her 2020 Cadillac when she stopped on the shoulder of the roadway and attempted to make a U-turn. However, as she did so, she pulled into the path of a 2013 Ford Escape being driven by a 16-year-old girl from Peck. The Ford then struck the Cadillac, causing both vehicles to become disabled in the roadway.
Both occupants, as well as a 43-year-old passenger in the Ford, were treated on scene by Sanilac EMS before being transported to McKenzie Hospital for further treatment. The accident remains under investigation and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident.
