A Monday evening accident on M-24 and M-46 injured a 67-year-old Lapeer driver, with Michigan State Troopers forced to use a tourniquet to control the driver’s bleeding.
Michigan State Police report that shortly before 6:40 p.m. on Monday, July 1, troopers were dispatched to M-24 and M-46 for a two-vehicle crash. A 67-year-old from Lapeer was traveling southbound on M-24 when a 27-year-old box truck driver from Saginaw disregarded a stop light while westbound on M-46 and t-boned the southbound vehicle.
The 67-year-old had significant injuries and troopers utilized a tourniquet to control severe bleeding, helping to stabilize the 67-year-old at the scene before they were transported to an out of area hospital for treatment.
The 27-year-old was not injured, but was cited for disobeying a stop light. Alcohol does not seem to be a factor in this crash.
Troopers were assisted on scene by Caro Fire, MMR, Mayville ambulance, 10 Point Towing, and multiple bystanders.
