A Bad Axe man was killed Saturday evening during an ATV crash in Huron County’s Colfax Township.
The Huron County Sheriff’s Office reports that around 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, deputies and other emergency personnel responded to the intersection of Lackie and Soper Roads in Colfax Township after a 68-year-old Bad Axe man was found after an accident.
The apparent victim of an ATV crash, preliminary investigation indicates the man had turned onto Lackie Road and may have done so too fast, which ejected him from the machine. The 96 Yamaha then overturned at least twice before landing on the victim, identified later as Randy S. Haley of Bad Axe.
He was pronounced dead from his injuries, with an autopsy to be performed soon. The scene was processed by the Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigators, and follow up into this incident will continue.
Other agencies assisting at the scene were the Bad Axe Fire Department, the Bad Axe Police Department, Central Huron Ambulance Service, a conservation officer from the DNR, and an investigator from the Huron County Medical Examiner’s Office.
