U.S. Border Patrol agents in Marysville arrested four people for trying to sneak three of them across the border in late June.
Agents from the Marysville Border Patrol Station report that on Tuesday, June 25, they observed a vessel make landfall on the U.S. shoreline, despite the craft originating in Canadian waters on the St. Clair River, and drop off three people to a waiting vehicle. Collaborative efforts between U.S. and Canadian law enforcement partners resulted in the arrest of the driver of the vessel after he returned to Canada.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan has charged the three passengers with Re-entry After Removal and the driver of the vehicle with Alien Smuggling. The pilot of the vessel will be before the Courts in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada on September 10th, 2024.
