Water quality advisories cancelled for all St. Clair County beaches

The St. Clair County Health Department (SCCHD) has canceled water quality swimming advisories for all St. Clair County beaches.
There are no longer advisories for Chrysler Beach in Marysville; Holland Beach, Lakeside Beach and Lighthouse Beach in Port Huron; and Keewahdin Beach and Fort Gratiot County Park Beach in Fort Gratiot.
The beaches were closed yesterday due to the elevated presence of E. coli, a common microbe found in the digestive systems of warm blooded animals, including humans, which can indicate the presence of fecal contamination. However, bacteria levels in recent water samples indicate beaches are now safe for swimming.
For more information, visit www.scchealth.co or contact the SCCHD Environmental Health Division at (810) 987-5306. Advisories for St. Clair County’s public beaches are shared on the SCCHD’s “St. Clair County Beaches” Facebook page and Michigan BeachGuard website at www.egle.state.mi.us/beach/.
