Croswell City Council addresses construction delays, continues discussion on quad bike concerns

With a little under three weeks until the start of the 2024-2025 school year for some districts, the Croswell City Council met this past Monday to provide construction updates and to share concerns about all-terrain vehicle (ATV) use in the city.
Construction on Wells Street has been slightly delayed. According to City Administrator David Tait, the crew sent by Boddy Construction LLC, a general contractor based out of Port Huron, ran into some problems while working on the M-53 project.
“We were scheduled for pavement, but . . . we’re hoping to see them down in the next week and a half,” Tait said.
Construction on Ward, Brown, and Davis Streets began in June with council members maintaining that Davis Street is projected to be completed by the end of 2024. Grinding on Brown Street will begin much earlier than expected, along with plans for the sewer run on Ward Street.
In addition, Council Member Donald Maury expressed his concerns about all-terrain vehicles or quad bikes being used around Riverbend Park. These concerns were initially brought to the council’s attention during their May meeting. Residents were unable to access trails in the nearby woods out of fear of being hit by riders. These concerns were made in terms of the alleyway along the city’s railroad tracks, as well. Since May, twelve stops have been made by local officers with only verbal warnings being given out and no repeat offenders noted.
While Tait has been in contact with Parks and Recreation about these issues, council members will continue to pursue the use of extra signs or barriers, along with a possible newsletter to be posted to the city’s website.
The next upcoming city council meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 19, at 7:30 p.m.
