A Lapeer County woman is dead and her partner in jail following a tragic incident last Friday, August 8.
The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office dispatched deputies to the 3000 block of Bittersweet Drive in Oregon Township around 11:00 p.m. for a domestic disturbance call. However, upon arrival at the home, officers instead found the victim, a 38-year-old Lapeer County woman, shot and dying, with officers attempting life saving measures.
Despite best efforts and transport to McLaren Lapeer Hospital by Lapeer County EMS, the woman was later pronounced dead. The case’s main suspect was identified as a 40-year-old Lapeer County man, with officers quickly taking him into custody.
He was arraigned on an open murder charge and unlawful gun possession, and denied bond. The suspect has been previously charged with domestic violence in 2016, with that charge later dropped.
