Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools prepare for new academic year

With schools across the Thumb gearing up for back to school, Carsonville-Port Sanilac’s district is no different, with volleyball and football coaches approved for the fall season during a board meeting earlier this week.
Several things are changing for the district, such as it being the inaugural year of the Big Thumb Conference, with the school being assigned to the Red District and competing against the likes of Akron-Fairgrove, Bay City All-Saints, Caseville and Owen-Gage.
Another change that won’t be coming as quickly will be the retirement of the district’s business manager, Susan Cole, on June 30, 2025, which the Carsonville-Port Sanilac Board of Education accepted with regret. Cole did announce the happy news, however, that the district was awarded a $30,000 food service grant called Action for Healthy Kids.
Approved at Monday night’s meeting was a bid for high school classroom and bathroom flooring work by Concrete Floor Treatment, who bid for the project at a cost of $29,500. The board also acknowledged the service of Greg and Marj Fruge, who served as the Head of Transportation/Grounds and Athletic Director, respectively.
The board will meet again on Monday, September 9, at 6:00 p.m.
