A St. Clair County man has been arraigned in Macomb County for allegedly not paying child support for over 15 years. Adam Walsh, age 38 of Algonac, was arraigned last Friday, August 16, for two different cases involving back child support.
In 2007, Walsh was ordered to pay $407 in child support each month, with that amount later reduced to $186 a month. Despite the reduction, Walsh allegedly owes more than $10,000 in back child support for this child, with 12 show cause hearings and five bench warrants issued in this case.
Then in 2013, he was ordered again to pay child support, this time for a different child and to the tune of $418 a month, though the amount was later reduced to $358 a month. For this case, Walsh allegedly owes more than $20,000 in back child support, with six show cause hearings and one bench warrant issued for that case.
Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido charged Walsh with two counts of failing to pay child support, which is a four year felony, following exhaustive efforts by the county’s Friend of the Court to enforce the child support orders.
Bond was set at a combined $7,820 in cash, with it appearing Walsh remains in custody. He will be back in court next Tuesday, August 27 at 8:30 a.m.
