accident-2

A 20-year-old man was injured early Monday morning after falling asleep while driving, according to Sanilac County authorities.
Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a call Monday, September 16, shortly after 2:10 a.m., reporting a single-vehicle crash at Speaker Township’s Brockway and Fisher Roads intersection. Deputies were dispatched to the scene with the Speaker Township Fire Department and Marlette EMS.
Initial investigation determined that a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500, driven by a 20-year-old man from New Haven, was traveling northbound on Brockway Road when the driver fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle veered left off the roadway, traveled through a ditch, became airborne, and ultimately crashed into the northwest ditch.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt and was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was treated at the scene by Marlette EMS and transported to McLaren Port Huron for further treatment of his injuries.
The names of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation.
