Imlay City Community Schools’ superintendent was forced to put the school in secure mode this morning, following a threat directed at two high school students.
Superintendent Dr. Stu Cameron informed families of the situation via social media shortly before 10:40 a.m. on Friday, September 27. With the threat directed at only two students, and not the school as a whole, and made by a non-student, a modified secure mode was initiated, wherein students were not allowed to leave the buildings, but could still go about their business inside, rather than a traditional lockdown, where students remain in their classrooms.
Additionally, Dr. Cameron assured parents that local police had been contacted by the school’s resource officer to help monitor campus and investigate the threat. Within ten minutes of the superintendent’s announcement, Imlay City Police reported they had apprehended the suspect in the case, and the school district was given the all-clear to resume as normal.
The Imlay City Police said they would release more information when they were able.
