In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, McKenzie Health System is offering $55 mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women throughout October.
This special price, made possible by donations to the McKenzie Women’s Health and Wellness Fund, aims to help women get the life-saving screenings they need.
In addition, McKenzie Health System is proud to offer advanced AI technology to improve 3D mammograms, as added this past month. This new AI helps doctors find breast cancer more accurately, especially in women with dense breast tissue, who are up to five times more likely to develop the disease. The new AI-driven Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) software assigns a standardized “Composition Score” to breast tissue, helping doctors detect abnormalities earlier and more reliably.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, affecting 1 in 8 American women, with early detection of the disease found to reduce deaths of it by up to 40%. Regular mammograms can detect breast cancer early when it’s easier to treat.
Though Medicare and most insurance plans cover mammograms so many patients can access this important screening, McKenzie Health System is still committed to making mammograms more affordable and accessible via this month’s program. No referral is needed, and patients can schedule their mammograms by calling 810-648-6110.
