A moped driver seriously injured last Wednesday morning passed away Monday morning, the Port Huron Police Department announced yesterday.
According to the Port Huron Police Department, shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, a vehicle struck a moped and its driver near the intersection of 10th Avenue and McPherson Street in Port Huron. Despite police, fire and EMS crews arriving at the scene quickly, the incident was so severe, the Police Accident Investigators were asked to assist the investigation.
The moped’s driver was identified as a 27-year-old Port Huron resident, who was initially taken to McLaren Port Huron Hospital for treatment before transfer to McLaren Macomb for further treatment. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is ongoing, and further details will be provided as they become available.
The driver of the other vehicle stayed at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
